The Redevelopment Agency is a public body, corporate and politic, maintaining its own identity, goals and budget, though legally separated from the City of Yorba Linda. However, the Redevelopment Agency is closely linked to the City by overlapping administration.  The City Council serves as the Redevelopment Agency Board, the City Manager is the Agency’s Executive Director (Steven A. Rudometkin), the City Clerk (Marcia Brown) is the Agency’s Secretary, and City staff serve as Agency staff.  The Administration Department is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Agency.

The Yorba Linda Redevelopment Agency established the Project Area on November 28, 1983, pursuant to California Redevelopment Law (CRL).  The Project Area consisted of 2,640 acres located in the eastern portion of the City.  The Agency subsequently amended the Project Area on July 17, 1990, to incorporate the Amended Area (commonly known as the Town Center).  The Town Center portion of the Project Area consists of 344 acres located along Imperial Highway corridor and includes the Town Center core.

The Project Area, was established to provide a tool to eliminate blighted conditions and ensure that the City’s economic base would grow and remain healthy through the provision of public improvements, commercial developments, and affordable housing.

The Agency has completed a number of highly successful projects, both private and public.  The Agency has assisted with significant infrastructure improvements such as the Gypsum Canyon Bridge and street improvements along Yorba Linda Boulevard.  The Agency’s most publicly recognized contributions have been the addition of community facilities such as the Bryant Ranch School Site, Travis Ranch Activity Center, Community & Senior Center, the Lasorda Fieldhouse, new park sites, and infrastructure improvements in the Town Center.  The Agency has also played an important role in the economic development of Yorba Linda over the past 10 years, and has helped to establish a number of commercial developments, hosting retailers such as Best Buy, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Kohl’s, and Costco.
