The Yorba Linda City Council will be presented for consideration the new State Wide Fire maps related to fire severity risk zones for the City of Yorba Linda. These maps are separated into two types, one being the Very High Severity Zone mandated by the state for adoption by the local municipalities, which requires all new structures to meet the requirements of Chapter 7A of the 2010 California Building Code. The second being the High and Moderate Severity zones related to new structures with proposed requirements by Orange County Fire specifically related to roofing, attic ventilation, and fire resistance of patio covers and decks when the property is adjacent to a Fuel Modification Zone or Open Native lands. This map and its proposed requirements can be adopted in its entirety, partially, or the Council can decline to adopt any portion of it. The requirements for both of these maps only apply to completely new structures and additions and remodels to structures which the original construction was required to meet the requirements of chapter 7A. These maps will be presented to the City Council on December 20, 2011 during the regular scheduled council meeting. Consideration of adoption will be considered at a later date and will be noticed on the city’s website as well as in the local news publication.
Review of the maps can be achieved by clicking the links below or in person at City Hall located at 4845 Casa Loma Ave.
